BU participates in the Executive Office Meeting of UASR

Prof. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University "BU" Vice-president for Postgraduate Studies and Researches ' Affairs participated and represented BU, on behalf of the BU President, in the 6th Executive Office meeting of the University Alliance of the Silk Road "UASR".
The meeting was held during the final events of the Annual Forum of the UASR Presidents which hosted online by Xi'an Jiaotong University - China and Politecnico di Milano - Italy in the duration from November23 to 27, 2020.

Benha University participates in the African universities' Week (AU Week), 2020

Benha University participates in the African universities 2020 represnted by Prof. Ahmed Youssef- the director of administration of foreign studentsand Prof Mahran elnaggar- Director of the International Relations Office who presented a PPT about Benha University.The AU Week celebration brings together higher education stakeholders across Africa to discuss contemporary issues pertinent to the improvement of the quality and relevance of higher education to the development of the African continent. The African Universities’ Week Celebrations have become a premier event on the calendar of AAU and has been celebrated by HEIs since 2000.

The meeting has discussed the ways to improve International Relations of Benha University.

Benha University participates in the Virtual Tripartite Higher Education Forum between China, France and Africa

Benha University, participated in the Virtual Tripartite Higher Education Forum between China, France and Africa, which was organized by Wuhan University -China from October 29-30, to discuss (Higher Education under the influence of the Corona epidemic)

The forum included two main topics, the development of teaching methods in higher education and the possibility of using international relations between educational institutions to train their employees. The official language of the conference was French.

A representative of the BU, Dr. Hassan Mohamed Mahmoud Al-Bahrawi, Professor of French and Francophone Literature and Head of the French Language Department at the Faculty of Arts, participated in the forum, where he talked about the impact of Covid 19 on higher education at Benha University: challenges and opportunities.

BU hosts a Meeting for EOA througho

Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Vice President of Benha University, received Dr. Nahed Ismail, Professor at the University of Illinois in Chicago in the United States of America and Director of the Medical Microbiology Laboratory to discuss ways of cooperation through granting research projects announced by the National Institute of Health (NIH) in America in the field of the intestinal microbiome and its relationship with diseases of fatty liver and pancreas

El Gizawy pointed out that the intestinal microbiome is important in diagnosing and treating steatosis and treating it through knowing the shape and quality of the intestinal microbiome, which helps prevent the transformation of hepatic lipidosis into hepatic carcinomas, noting that hepatic lipidosis is closely related to the occurrence of hardening of the arteries of the heart, which leads to death. The expected results of the research project will prevent these complications.

Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches ' Affairs said that the Department of Orthopedic at the Faculty of Medicine has organized the monthly medical meeting of the Egyptian Orthopedic Association "EOA" throughout Zoom application which discussed 20 different cases of orthopedic diseases and surgery. It is worth mentioning that the meeting has been hold under the patron of Prof. Dr. Gamal El Saeed, the University President and attended by Prof. Dr. Gamal Eladawy, the Former Minister of Health and the Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Dr. Gamal Hosni, the Head of EOA; and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Elkady, the Dean of the Faculty.

Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, the University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches' Affairs and Prof. Dr. Tamer Samir, the University Vice-president for Education and Students' Affairs received Mr. Selim Mousa, the University Affairs Officer of the Palestinian Embassy in Cairo in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousef, the Director of the University Foreign Students Affairs and Prof. Dr. Mahran El Naggar, the Director of University International Relations Office.

In this regard, El Gizawy said that the meeting discussed the academic situation of Palestinian students at the University, whether at the level of undergraduate or postgraduate studies indicating that all support is provided to Palestinian students.

Benha University has agreed to cooperate with University of Zagreb for the exchange of students/ staff in the context of Erasmus+ program

The mobility exchange support the reintegration of mobile participants and give them the opportunity, upon return, to build on their experiences for the benefit of the Institution and their peers. Exchange will be executed through 2 phases in both autumn and spring term

Memorandum of Understanding between BU and Varna University

Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches ' Affairs said that the University Council under the presidency of Prof. Dr. Gamal El Saeed, the University President approved the memorandum of understanding with Varna University of Management in the light of BU 's plan to open up to the world and in line with the State 's plan and the Ministry of Higher Education in this regard. He added that this agreement aims to exchange faculty members and students between the two universities, in addition to establish joint research projects, dual degrees, as well as mutual recognition between the two universities of credit hours

BU maintains Its World Ranking in Times 2021

Prof. Dr. Gamal El Saeed, Benha University President said that the Times Higher Education World University Rankings has announced for the new ranking of 2021 indicating that the University has occupied the rank 801 – 1000 among 527 universities in the world and 21 universities in Egypt at 4th group. Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, the University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches ' Affairs said that according to that ranking, the University has maintained its world place occupied in 2020 with improvement in its performance at the citation and teaching, as well as the international outlook comparing with the previous year.

CSC grants the Distinguished Student Award 2019 to a Researcher from Benha University

Prof. Dr. Nasser El Gizawy, Benha University Vice-president for Post Graduate Studies and Researches ' Affairs said that the China Scholarship Council (CSC) has granted the Distinguished Student Award 2019 to the Researcher/ Ibrahim Khalifa, the Lecturer at the Department of Food Industries at the Faculty of Agriculture in Moshtohor.
It is worth mentioning that Khalifa had been granted a scholarship to get the PhD from Central China University upon cooperation with Benha University in the duration from 2016 to 2019.

“The International Conference of Higher Education Development: Global Variables and International Standards”

Due to the passage of nearly fifteen years of the implementation of the development and quality projects and academic accreditation in the Arab region, it was necessary to study the impact of these projects on the educational and research process and ways of developing and activating them in the light of future variables and challenges. A delegation of students from Beijing University of Forestry concludes his visit to Benha University

International relations office in Benha university organizes an informational session about Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program at Benha University. PROGRAM INFORMATION: The 2019 Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program will bring young faculty members from Egypt to U.S. institutions for faculty development, mentoring, and cultural exchange activities in the fields of Renewable Energy and Engineering, Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), and Public Health from June 30 through September 8, 2019. During this 10-week program, faculty members will be introduced to new teaching and research methods, observe classes, attend seminars, and develop linkages with American faculty through weekly mentoring sessions. On-going community engagement with university-identified host families, volunteers, or others in the broader local community will facilitate the scholars’ participation in outreach activities, including visits to historical sites and attendance at cultural events. While introduction to new research methods in the scholars’ disciplines does constitute one component of the Fulbright Junior Faculty Development Program, the program is not intended to provide a venue for individual research projects. The competition was originally created by the UK’s Cheltenham Science Festival, based on the highly successful UK FameLab model. The idea of the competition is to take science out of the classroom and make it fun, and to encourage young people with a passion for science and technology to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with the general public in an interesting and entertaining way. Famelab is introduced to Egypt by The British Council and the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Programme. Watch videos of last year’s UK Grand Final Who can apply ? You will be given a maximum of 3 minutes in which to impress the judges. The panel will be looking for exciting and engaging talks that can be understood by a general public adult audience. Props are allowed but you must be able to carry them on and off stage with you (there is no set-up time or assistance and no table to put them on) Power Point presentations are not permitted. It is recommended that you prepare two presentations (3 minutes each) as you may be asked to go for another round on the same day. What exactly am I expected to do? Inspire and excite public imagination by giving an entertaining and original talk in either English or Arabic that is scientifically accurate in front of a live non-scientific audience. The judges are looking for three qualities: content, clarity and charisma. So make sure your subject matter is well chosen and clearly put across, that your facts are right, and that you let your passion for your subject shine through! What happens at the final? The 10 finalists will be asked to give a new presentation on a contemporary science topic that is different from that presented at the qualifying round. Banha University is ranked the FIRST among the Egyptian Universities according to "Times Higher Education" (THE)

Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, President in charge of Banha University(BU), congratulated the whole family of the University on winning the first place at the level of Egyptian universities, according to the new version of the British Times classification for the best universities in the world for 2019. The University of Benha ranked 601 - 800 globally, with 5 other Egyptian universities in this rank. In this classification for 2019. Prof. Hussien Al Maghraby charge d' affairs President of Benha University

From the 1st September 2018, Benha University (BU) has a new president- Prof. Hussien Mahmoud Mohamed Almaghraby. The new president was the head of the surgery department at the college and then vice president of the university for education and students. Prof. Almaghraby said that I started as a lecturer in the faculty, which is one of the largest veterinary colleges in Egypt, the Arab world and Africa, and occupies a prestigious position at the scientific and research level. He added that we seek to maintain the status achieved by the University of Banha in various scientific and research fields and develop the role played by the university in its communication with the universities of the developed world, allowing us to develop the educational process and advanced academic programs

DAAD- Research Grants – Short-Term Grants

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is pleased to announce the Research Grants– Short-Term Programmes in Germany for the academic year 2019/2020. The Program is provided to excellently-qualified doctoral candidates and young academics and scientists who have completed a Master's degree or Diplom, or in exceptional cases a Bachelor's degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant-supported research, or those who have already completed a PhD (postdocs). The target groups are Egyptian freelancers, applicants from Egyptian ministries, Egyptian university staff member of the private universities and private research institutions, university staff members of Egyptian public universities, who are not following the mission’s department plan. About the Grant The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) are pleased to announce the launching of the Joint ASRT-BA Research Grants Program for Young Researchers. The joint program is funded by the ASRT and it is managed and adminstrated by the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), one of the BA academic research centers. Researchers should be conducting an innovative applied research in one of the following areas: • Food & Agricultural Sciences • Medical Sciences • Environment • Engineering Sciences and Technologies Objective: Universities and research institutions in Egypt, Arab Region and Africa need to be able to implement into practice the latest science discoveries and technological ideas for the benefit of the community. The Joint ASRT-BA Research Grants Program for Young Researchers seeks out the generation of creative and innovative research. The Joint ASRT-BA Research Grants Program for Young Researchers offers research grants to 50 young researches (40 Egyptians and 10 Africans), over two rounds (25 young research per round). The grant maximum duration is limited to 2 years. The maximum amount of money provided per researcher is EGP 250,000 (including 5 % administration fees-will be deducted-). Two workshops for young researchers are to be organized (once annually) to build researchers capacities. Eligibility Criteria: 1. The research should be an innovation for application beneficiary to the society in the applied area of study. 2. Candidate must not exceed 45 years by the application year. 3. Candidates must have completed their PhD. 4. Candidate must be an African Nationality. 5. The candidate must be currently working at a public/private academic (or) research institution in Africa and the research must be conducted in Egypt. 6. Candidates must have an English language proficiency of at least 5 in IELTS (or) 500 in paper-based TOEFL, (or) 60 in International-based TOEFL. 7. Egyptian candidates must be currently engaged (or) can arrange to work on a joint research project with foreign counterpart(s) at a university (or) a research center abroad. 8. Activation of the Amhotep 2018-2019 project between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University and the Institut Ennis, France

In the light of Benha University strategy to activate the policy of international openness and within the framework of the international cooperation project between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University and the Institute of Anisis, France, co-funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Cambes France. A workshop was held at the French Institute where a brief overview of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and its research and laboratory capabilities was presented through a lecture by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Mohamed Mohamed Ghanem, in addition to another lecture delivered by the main research of the project. Which reviewed the work team and the work plan of the project and what has been achieved from the Egyptian side. Dr. Karim Boumedienne, the project's main researcher and representative of the French side, gave a lecture explaining the achievements of the project plan and the presentation of the future plan which begins with holding a workshop in October 2018 in Egypt. The workshop was attended by Dr. Richard Terry, Director of the Institute and Dr. Oded Rous, Director of the National Reference Laboratory for the Protection of Unconscious Species in France, and discussed the preparation of a scientific agreement for the mutual practical exchange between the two sides in the field of training and exchange of faculty members and joint scientific publishing.

18 scholarships to study Master's and PhD from 5 Chinese Universities of Banha University

Prof. Yousef Elkady, President of Benha University, announced that five Chinese universities awarded 18 scholarships to Benha University for their master's and doctoral students this year, including 6 from Central China University, 4 from Harbin University of Technology and 6 from Legon University while Wuhan University awarded two. Prof. Elkady stressed that the grants were distributed to the faculties of Benha University in accordance with the quality of the grants and the needs of the faculties. He pointed out that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine received 5 grants. Shoubra Faculty of Engineering received 5 grants and Benha Engineering on 4 grants while the Faculty of Commerce received two grants, faculty of science and specific education got one grant. Prof. Elkady said that the scholarship to obtain the master's and doctorate degrees in the scientific specializations of each of the faculties of the university to which the grants have been distributed and the duration of the grant is 3-5 years, stressing that the Chinese universities bear the full cost of the grant up to 2 million pounds, Students selected by the University of China receive a monthly bonus of up to 10,000 Egyptian pounds throughout the course of the study. An agreement between Benha University and the Islamic University of Malaysia

Dr. Hussein Al-Maghrabi, Vice President of Benha University for Education and Students signed a cooperation agreement between Benha University and the Islamic University of Malaysia. This came on the sidelines of the third Arab-Asian Conference on Higher Education, which is currently being held in Malaysia, which ended on Wednesday. Dr. Al-Maghrabi stressed that the agreement includes cooperation in the field of quality and accreditation in the educational and research process between the two universities. The third agreement with Wuhan University of China

The Vice-President of Wuhan University Prof. Ly Fe received Prof. Yossef AlQadi the President of Benha University and the accompanying delegation. The third agreement was signed between the two universities, which relates to cooperation with the Center for African Studies. The new agreement opens a wide range of horizons for cooperation with the Center in various activities such as progress on joint research projects, training courses and exchange of professors in the field of history and languages. , And invited students of Benha University to attend training courses in Chinese language and culture. Wuhan University is ranked among the top 250 universities in the world. At the end of the meeting, the director of the Chinese Center for Simulation invited BU President to send intensive care doctors from Benha University to receive the training at the time determined by Benha University. Benha University is the first Egyptian university to get ISO 9001:2015

Prof. Elsayed Youssef Elkady- President of Benha University, received the certificate of ISO 9001 for the year 2015, as the first Egyptian university to obtain this certificate. BU had obtained the ISO 9001 certificate for the year 2008 last year through 14 administration of the university. Four new General administrations were added, legal and law affairs administration, Administrative security, Commodities stock administration and Housing Administration to make the number of administrations of the university with the certificate of ISO 18 management. Prof. Elkady Greeted all the employees of Benha University who responded to the directives of Prof. Abd Elkader Abd ElKarim, Advisor to the President of the University of Management Quality who said that these achievements were accomplished through the work of the spirit of one team and its performance groups through which we succeeded in solving many of the problems and overcome many of the obstacles faced by the university during the last period.
